Chat your book puts the complete text of public-domain set texts in a proper reading experience, with a companion in the margins that explains what’s happening as your students read. It’s built to make them read more, not less.
Where the line is
The essay rule is written into the product, not into a policy page nobody reads. The companion is instructed, at the level it cannot ignore, to refuse submission-ready prose and turn the request back into a discussion of the text.
What it does
- Explains the passage a student is stuck on, in plain words, grounded in the whole book.
- Answers questions about themes, characters, and context as they come up mid-chapter.
- Asks chapter questions that check understanding, and tests a student’s own argument when they offer one.
- Keeps their notes and conversations anchored to the exact passage, across the school year.
What it refuses
- Writing essays, essay paragraphs, introductions, or conclusions, even when asked repeatedly or in disguise.
- Producing any answer a student could hand in as their own work.
- Leaving the book: it stays a literary companion for the text in front of it, and nothing else.
- Graphic content. Mature themes in the text are discussed the way a thoughtful teacher would.
Free where it matters
